Harry continues in his quest to lead a private life—this time he jumps back on the dead mother bandwagon to try and stay relevant, and to gain some much needed positive PR it seems. Perhaps this may work with the hardcore Diana fans, but she died 25 years ago and there are generations that don’t know who she is or remember her. His audience is limited, and most people have moved on and accepted that Diana did some good things, but had her flaws as all humans do. Many want her to be able to rest in peace, and that is what Harry should do.
Is Buckingham Palace, the Queen and Charles really onboard with him using his royal ducal title to preach to the Nation that he betrayed and abandoned? His latest preach/speech is to tell ‘Britons they have a duty to get tested for HIV’. I know, when I read it I thought he couldn’t be that stupid, but I listened to the video clips and yes, I am afraid he is that stupid and did utter the words. Even the animated arm flinging couldn’t deflect from the arrogant tone, and desperation in his voice to sound as if he was an authority on the matter. Did he get an online medical degree that he forgot to brag about?
While Diana used her status to highlight causes and issues, isn’t Harry doing the exact opposite and using causes as a self-serving PR tool for his ‘business’ ventures? What right does he have to try and dictate to the masses what they have a duty to do? He failed in his own duty, and fled when he go caught out in his own web of misinformation, had a few temper tantrums while still demaning money and perks.
Duty? He had a simple duty which was to represent the Nation and the Queen, be polite and put on a show for an hour or so, shake hands, smile, and pose for photos. He failed in his duty and service to the Nation, but not only that, he chose to attack the establishment and all the natives because he couldn’t get his own way (and his wife). That’s life, for we must abide by rules, guidelines and protocols when we work for, or represent others.
The response in the UK is of utter despair, and while we know Harry is always keen to jump on the Diana bandwagon, he is still using his royal status for PR. Harry is now claiming he wishes to finish the work his mother started, but when it comes to humanitarian work, it never finishes for there is always another cause. These are just empty words again, because both William and Harry said they would continue the work their mother had begun when they were teenagers, and they have done and then pursued their own causes. While Harry may wish to support his friend, Gareth Thomas, he has that right of course but do not pontificate to the People what they must do. Harry was never articulate or a great speaker without coaching and notes, and this is the real Harry that people would really rather not see.
First of all, who is Harry to give advice? Only an utter fool would listen to him or take advice from him. Apparently (in the UK), if your blood is being tested it is routine tested for HIV unless you specifically request for it not to be tested, and I am sure GPs and the NHS would not be happy if people rolled up and demanded a test and said, ‘Prince Harry told me to!’. Not only is it impractical and costly, it is also unnecessary, and all he has done is tried to highlight a non-existent stigma. HIV in a Third World country is different to the UK, because the spread can be due to a lack of contraception (culture), poor sanitation, and other issues.
Those who feel they need to be tested for HIV know where to go, and are probably aware of the risks beforehand. I have had friends who were risk-takers, and one got tested each month and is now in a committed relationship, while another did contract HIV and is on medication for the rest of their life. Harry giving his opinion that isn’t fact based, or realistic isn’t going to change the attitudes of a risk-taker in a high risk group. Prevention is the only way to halt HIV, and testing may help limit the spread, but it won’t stop it.
The RF have been treading a wobbly path of late, because they should not dictate to the People what they should do or think. While most of the sane population take little to no notice of Harry, the problem is that he is spreading misinformation while claiming he is trying to stop misinformation. No, all Britons do not have a duty to get tested for HIV. We do have a duty to protect the Nation from traitors and attacks, whether they be physical, verbal or virtual. If you are in a high risk category where HIV transmission is possible and you didn’t take precautions, then yes, you should be responsible and get tested. Widowed seniors are among the many that probably don’t need to get tested, and like the masses, will resent being dictated to by Harry.
Ironically, the podcast was aired on the same day that Clarence House announced that Charles has Covid-19 again, and was self-isolating, but had also been in contact with his mother two days prior to testing positive. I imagine that BP had no choice but to make the announcement as engagements would have to be cancelled, and those who he had been in contact with would have to be informed. However, it does put things in perspective—Covid testing is necessary and relevant, and that Harry needs to be removed from the LoS, for obvious reasons.
As for the talk over what title Camilla will have should Charles make it to the throne, no one actually cares whether she is called Princess Consort or Queen Consort. It only seems to matter to Charles, and while I do think Camilla has served well and has done her duty, it is a case of actions speak louder than titles. All that the Queen’s comments have done is antagonize the hardcore Diana fans, and she may wish Camilla to be known as the Queen Consort, but what she has shown is that she has no idea what is important to the People. The People don’t care about Camilla and her title, but they do care about the Sussexes attacking the Nation and accusing them of being racist.
This is very much a case of someone who believes they are ‘serving’ in an ivory tower, oblivious to what is necessary and what the People actually need and want. You cannot force people to support you, or to be loyal and to respect you. Perhaps the Queen presumes too much, or has little idea that support for her has recently declined? A failure to act, is an act of failure that leads to consequences. Should Charles make it to the throne with Camilla, the People will accept and tolerate it, but it doesn’t mean that all of them will support or like them, for the days of forcing peasants to do as a monarch says or desires are well and truly behind us.
