No one really understands what the point of Travalyst is, and today they have published a report, forecasting how the the travel industry will bounce back this year after Covid-19. Do they know something that all the doctors and scientists don’t know? In the UK, the vaccinations are being rolled out– I was told that old people are queuing in the rain and cold to get their jab by a friend who queued today. Honestly, the insensitivity of this is unbelievable, because very few people are concerned about looking to travel somewhere to help sustain a community right now. With people losing their jobs in their own streets, Harry fails to understand what real life is about.
The 18 page ‘report’ or PowerPoint presentation is actually about 15 pages of blurb, and dressed up with some scenic images. I skimmed through it and will muster up the will to read it and write it up tomorrow (I’m still on the Letter case documents), but much of what has been written is the same old stuff, and offers little except the results of surveys from the various partners. Who cares what 49% of Gen Z or millennials think? The UK is on lockdown, the government tells us not to travel unless it is for work, education, or medical reasons. We have to go with the flow, and as much as people do miss travelling, and have sympathy for those who depend on tourism for their living, no one can predict what will happen, and how people will react or behave.
Travalyst has to keep telling us what they are doing, but it still makes little sense. They tell us that they will provide platforms to help us decide, and find the best sustainable holidays. That’s nothing new, as it’s been done for decades. Right now, people can’t even go on a day trip in the UK, but we have seen what happened when restrictions were lifted. People went crazy and infections rates rose and forced more lockdowns.
Most of the ‘report’ is word salad that is padded out, with much of what was said repeated in a different format. What was the point of a ‘report’ encouraging the future of travel when in the UK we have just had the highest death toll figures since the Coronavirus pandemic? Travel is not high on the agenda, but Harry doesn’t care as this is his agenda. They throw in a few token words about the struggles during Covid-19, and that businesses have to adapt - no kidding Einstein. Every single industry and business is doing that already.
Perhaps Harry felt the need to do this in order to justify the transfer of funds from the defunct Sussex Royal to Travalyst? I mean, they have to look as if they are doing something to justify their existence. The problem is their existence has little to no purpose. I guess it gives the partners something to do, but it’s nothing more than a PR exercise to entice people to feel comfortable about booking holidays and other services. Just who is funding Travalyst? Their accounts aren’t due until January 2022, but will it even still exist by then?
Here is the full breakdown of the ‘report’ with some underhand links, plus Harry will have his petty public apology read out in court next week.

I found the hidden embedded links because I wanted to test out a theory, as this is what spammers usually do, and someone warned me about this years ago. It is always ethical and good practice to highlight any links to make them obvious, and to add a disclaimer if links go to a third party site. I wasn't shocked to find that my theory was correct, and I imagine they will have to amend the report and add a disclaimer to ensure transparency and to adhere to privacy guidelines. To have more than a dozen links that aren't specified is underhand IMHO.
