Spitting Image returns, and has cast Harold as one of their stars in a contemporary sketch starring other politicians (warning bad language and drug and sex references) basically saying what many of us think, but can’t publicly say. How society has devolved of late, where freedom of speech is at present discouraged when valid critical comments that don’t suit a narrative are silenced. That’s why satire such as Spitting Image are a necessary platform for the masses, just as Punch magazine was back in 1841.
That was the main point of Spitting Image when it first came to our screens (1991), to mock and parody public figures when they messed up or had unfavourable personalities. Reports say that South Park are due to release an episode on the Twerkledee and Twerkledum twerking video, while the social media channels are flooded with videos with people mocking both TW and Harold.
The episode, ‘The Rest is Bulls!*t’ was released on 4 July 2025, the American Independence Day, featuring Paddington Bear and Harold as the hosts of a podcast. In the video, they mock Harold, ‘telling his truth’, making money from appearances, his mummy issues, that he thinks he’s a ‘wandering philosopher prince’, and they mock Harold trying to contact his Pa through a letter writing service.
Somehow, I don’t think Harold will be able to laugh it off, while TW is still muttering to herself that she ‘married a fox’ who loves her so much…Twerkledee, no one cares and Spitting Image is a pretty good indication of what the British public think of Harold. All these puff PR pieces claiming he wants to return to royal duties are merely trying to give the appearance that he has some status. No one wants him back even if he wants to return, and it’s not up to him but C3 to decides who represents the Crown.
Meanwhile, back on the ranch so to speak, there are reports of more PR firings probably because there isn’t any cash to pay the staff. Perhaps someone was fired because an image of TW was posted on social media that failed to retouch her hands to match her self-tan? Why didn’t she cough up for a salon treatment that she could have expensed, then there is a classic error of using shimmering lipgloss on chapped lips that only highlights them.
Another reason why so many staff were let go after just being hired is that they might need to ‘pay off’ some invoices, including ones with NDAs that if are let out of the bag (potentially if it goes to court due to a breach of contract) will smash open the floodgates on various issues such as the faceless children.
TW’s work and PR strategy seems to consist of her posing for photos and making video clips for Instagram, either manhandling flowers or fruit, or running on the beach. It’s free, but it looks like she is trying to get some paid partnerships, but we all know that any brand silly enough to ‘partner’ with her will get ‘markled’, and once a reputation has been tarnished it’s tough to win back customers.
The issues with the ‘As ever’ brand continue with customers being given partial refunds for items that were never available let alone ready to be dispatched. Technically, they should never have been charged in the first place. While her PR team keep pushing the narrative that the items have ‘sold out’, the suppliers show healthy stock levels of the products, making it clear that TW doesn’t have the finance to purchase more stock, making this look less of a business but more of a project for PR. No one is really taking this venture seriously and Netflix should really read the room. The only audience who are buying the products are the cult fans who are then reselling them on eBay! This is not a FMCG venture, and there is no profit to made if it isn’t. Limited editions do not make a profit unless they can be kept for years (and are sold at a high price), and you can’t do that will honey and jam.
Some might be concerned about the trademark issues, but a registered trademark merely protects a brand from a competitor copying their designs and products, and allows them to take legal action for any breaches. As TW is merely repackaging generic goods bought from wholesalers and slapping a label on it, there is little to no danger of anyone wanting to copy her brand. There is nothing to date that is unique or original that is being sold that needs trademark protection. Therefore, it really is protecting nothing as the brand is already being mocked as overpriced and is publicly tainted with poor customer service, while some of the suppliers having already been revealed suggesting marked up prices triple that of the retail price of the vendors.
With no Sentebale polo cup this year, Harold and TW have slim pickings on the social events side of things. They don’t seem to get invited to the big events, parties or weddings in the US, and haven’t shown up for Wimbledon (so far). No one seems to be hiring them for their ‘discernible’ talents or skills either. Perhaps the ducal title has been milked bone dry, or some brands simply don’t wish to be associated with the rotten apples of the British Royal Family?
Some last minute news, apparently the green light has been given to ‘investigate with charges’ as to whether Harold lied on his visa application, and given the current situation in the US, no one should be given preferential treatment. The Harkles have a cashflow problem as none is flowing in, and allegedly they hope the Bank of Pa will bail them out. Why not sell, the mansion, but it seems no one wants to buy it. As for staff still with them, if they are wise, they should look for alternative employment because if they file for bankruptcy then they won’t get paid. Netflix seems the only actual revenue stream as no one actually knows if Harold is still employed with a paid job at BetterUp as he didn’t appear to attend the 2025 summit. As for as ever, there doesn’t seem to be any profit as the company has to keep sending out free items to appease people who were incorrectly charged and had to wait for a refund.
TW’s current bestie, Kelly McKee Zajfen should take note of what happened to her predecessors, Ninaki was ghosted and false allegations were made against her, and Jessica Mulroney was dumped, but still has to officially ‘explain’ the invoices and expenses submitted to the Royal Household when she was TW’s stylist. For those who need a reminder, many outfits were given free as samples but members of the RF are not permitted to receive free items and allegedly ‘invoices’ were generated for them, while brands posted on social media confirming they had sent samples and thanking those involved for wearing the items. Also, TW was seen wearing garments with the labels still attached, indicating that they were likely to be returned for a refund (or sold on) even though the invoices were to be paid through the accounts of the Royal Household ( a trick many mistresses and escorts use to make some under the table cash). Well, TW did say she wanted the truth to come out…
