And so the farce continues...
Clarence House and Kensington Palace post the usual birthday wishes
At the time of writing, the Royal Family social media accounts haven’t posted their birthday greetings, but then again, TW is a non-working member of the RF by marriage, and who is relegated to being a minor member now. Should they even be obliged to do so?
Many will sigh at the RF, who continue this farce for appearances sake, while the world knows that the Sussexes have attacked the RF and the UK as a whole. Some will say that the RF have class, but we go back to what is private and what is public. If Harry’s family wish to send greetings privately to his wife, they may do so because we, the public don’t need to know. Their social media accounts are supposed to be public accounts that promote their work—that is what we are led to believe.
The greetings were posted on the Instagram stories that will disappear in 24 hours, which will at least prevent comments that will criticise them. By acknowledging her publicly, the RF are also sending a message to the public that they accept her behaviour while the majority of the nation doesn’t. That puts the RF at odds with what is expected from the monarchy and what the People think. The fact that the duo appear to have been ignored in public by Charles, Camilla, William and Kate makes the messages seem awkward, but they are very basic messages—the type you get in a cheap birthday card in a pack of 10 for a £1.
While TW still is entitled to have a title while married to Harry, who still has the title, that doesn’t mean that it must be used. The Duchess of Kent who chose to step back from royal duties no longer uses her title even though she is entitled to use it, and uses it only during formal occasions. The Sussexes could opt not to use the title (which would be the correct thing to do), but then they would have nothing to sell or to trade. The title is all they have to offer, and I am baffled as to to why people are impressed with them because they choose to be defined by a title that was gifted to Harry.
There is currently a ‘Removal of Titles Bill’ that has been proposed by a York MP to hand the power to remove a title to the Monarch. The aim is to remove the Duke of York title from Prince Andrew, yet even if the bill is successful, can we see the Queen removing the title from her son? Charles might do it though if he makes it to the throne.
IMHO, the Sussexes have done far worse than make poor decisions and arrogant errors, for they have directly attacked the monarchy, members of the RF, and have spread disinformation and misinformation that has been proven by the media and also the individuals concerned ( the Archbishop of Canterbury did not marry the duo in the back garden of Nottingham Cottage as TW stated, or was that a subjective belief?). To top it all, Harry is challenging the government over his security arrangements, and is putting a burden on the public purse for what appears to be vanity purposes. Most of the lawsuits and legal challenges the duo pursue are vanity cases, done so merely because they have the finances to do so. Those with class and integrity would brush off any criticisms and let their actions speak for themselves.
The RF have been attending the Commonwealth Games, and the Wessex and Cambridge families have brought along their children to ‘train’ them for public life. The games have come at a great time—the weather is holding for a change and it’s ideal for children to attend during the holidays. However, wheeling out a Cambridge child isn’t going to save the monarchy—it’s cute and a distraction for a few days, or even several weeks. The Sussex problem still exists, and that is the danger that the monarchy is reluctant to acknowledge.
