A Harkle No Show, Followed By A 'Paid For' Aviation Accolade
People are wondering why Harold will be an inductee of the Living Legends of Aviation
The Golden Globes was held in Los Angeles on 7 January 2024, and neither of the duo made an appearance, and that appears to cement their status in Hollywood—persona non grata. However, TW’s former cast members from Suits were there to present an award and when cast members were asked about TW, Gina Torres simply stated that they didn’t have her number for their WhatsApp group chat. Anyone who is relevant in Hollywood attended and a good time seemed to be had by all.
The mocking of the duo in 2024 began with the host Jo Koy, saying that the Harkles got paid millions from Netflix for doing nothing, and no one booed but laughed instead at the truth, and even the Netflix boss, Ted Sarandos had to chuckle as the cameras focused on him.
The usual PR spin came the next day, claiming that TW had a prior engagement on a Sunday evening (probably washing her hair!) and couldn’t attend, while others claimed that she hadn’t been invited. Would she have shared the stage with the other members of Suits? The message is clear though—Hollywood doesn’t want or need the Harkles. Celebrities from the past to contemporary stars were all there, and can you really believe TW would pass up a huge networking opportunity where she could get photographed with everyone she has ever wanted to meet? Surely WME would have pushed for an invite, or perhaps their favours and ability to pull strings have withered away since taking on TW?
No one was really interested in their non-appearance and the focus was on the winners of the awards, highlighting the films and shows that perhaps some people hadn’t heard of yet. At the same time, the Invictus Games seemed to be promoting a push for donations on their social media, perhaps they presumed with the Harkle publicity that people would be donating to the cause? I’ve read that many veterans have opted not to donate to Invictus based on the poor behaviour of the patron and his wife, and they cannot be assured their donations would actually go towards helping veterans but would be used to fund the expenses for the patron and his wife. It all seems a little desperate, so are the Invictus Games in need of funding to stay afloat or have their sponsors reduced their donations?
A couple of days later, an announcement is made that Harold will be an inductee at the 21st Living Legends of Aviation awards on 19 January 2024, to be held at the Beverly Hilton. Here is where the mocking of Harold continues, and this time it is from retired military personnel who have questioned why he has been given the award as he hasn’t done anything exceptional in the world of aviation. At best, he was a co-pilot and Weapons Systems Officer(WSO) during operations, and many who served with Harold have said he failed his exams several times and confirm that he was not an actual pilot.

Even the official statement from the government is worded so vaguely, stating that he qualified as a pilot but would be operating as a co-pilot. Therefore, while he had to be a qualified pilot to be in the helicopter, that doesn’t actually mean he was a pilot when he served in the army. In SPARE, he doesn’t appear to have bragged about piloting a helicopter, and only refers to his flying lessons (where for dramatic effect he suggested his instructor had put him in danger but actually hadn’t during a test scenario) and his solo test flight in order to pass his exams. There are archived staged images of Harold in a cockpit, but I must have missed the video footage of him piloting a helicopter if such footage exists. Then again, even his CO said he was only ever a co-pilot which doesn’t diminish his time in the army, but there seems to be some misinformation being dished out in order to exaggerate Harold’s role in the army.
As ever, whenever an entity has anything to do with the Harkles, they limit or close comments on their social media, which means they are aware of the negative publicity and criticism the duo attract. Yet we know that and money talks, and a generous donation can buy just about anything! The blurb on the Living Legends of Aviation website is full of warm and soggy tossed word salad that is irrelevant to any specific outstanding achievement. In fact, it’s rather comical to brag exaggerate about basic army duties, and then to claim that he saved lives through his time in the army. Isn’t that what all soldiers do, and then all of Harold’s charities are mentioned for some free PR that have basically become his résumé— no doubt penned by the puppet master and pseudo- calligraphy master.
The ‘Living Legends of Aviation awards’ itself is another vanity fundraiser event, and this time it’s for Kiddie Hawk Air Academy. The Harkles appear to be rather good at purchasing awards in exchange for a donation, either to the entity itself, or to those on the board for nominations and their associated charities. It’s rather hard to take such an entity seriously when their press release is via a page link on a myshopify website.
Some are questioning why the British find the award distasteful and that’s because Harold is using his time in the army to claim he was a ‘hero’ and was exceptional while serving and representing his country, and that simply isn’t the case. While the country thanks him for his service, even his military superiors cannot claim he was an exceptional or outstanding solider, nor were his acts. Most of the staged images were of him being protected by Gurkhas, and the hashtags #bunkerharry #FlopGun #FlopGunHarry have been trending for the past few days, and the awards have been ridiculed, with many saying the award is an insult to real aviation heroes.
However, we can assume TW won’t be washing her hair that night as a free date night and some free photos are on offer. The question is who will be in their entourage? Will Ashley Hansen still be following them around like an eager puppy, and will they bring their own photographer for some new footage for Archewell?

What has Harold done to warrant the award, and how can he be considered an industry leader? It looks as if they are giving him an award for having a title and carrying out basic tasks as per his job during his time in the army, and in some instances they were restricted ones. Yes, it makes a mockery of the awards, and it’s ridiculous where even Jeff Tracy of International Rescue and his Thunderbirds (yes, I know it’s an animated marionette show) has done more for the world of aviation by encouraging children to be pilots, astronauts, and basically to fight for justice over the past several decades. Just what contribution has Harold as a WSO and co-pilot made that has been outstanding? Are they throwing in the word ‘humanitarian’ so that he qualifies to justify the award?
There is no mention of him skipping random drug tests when he was in the army where he was given leave when they occurred, so has he inspired the right kind of people to join the army after his Las Vegas escapades while serving in the army and representing the British army and the UK?
The awards will give Harold the opportunity to plug Archewell (as he needs more donors) and will be another fake award to add to his résumé. Will he get booed or cheered when he attend the event next week, but those in the industry have not exactly applauded the decision to add Harold as a ‘living legend’, but as it is based on nominations. There is even a petition (started by apparently a relative of Orville and Wilbur Wright, Amelia Earhart, and Neil Armstrong) to ask ‘Living Legends of Aviation’ to reconsider the award. Clearly, many do not consider Harold to be worthy of such an accolade, which begs the question as to whether the nominations had been ‘purchased’s Harold is hardly a prominent figure in the world of aviation, and does he even have a valid pilot’s license still?
