After TW had no choice but to admit that her submitted statements to the court during the ANL hearing were inaccurate and false, the ANL judgment (appeal) will be heard in Court 71 next week. The main issue is to determine if the summary judgment should be overturned, and even with the breach of privacy issue still being debated, the court cannot ignore the fact that multiple statements were ‘inaccurate’ because TW forgot she collaborated with the authors of ‘Finding Freedom’. She also forgot that she had structured a letter to her father, discussing what topics would help her public profile with Jason Knauf, when the letter got into the public domain. Should they determine that the SJ was based on unreliable statements and information, then that judgment is unsafe.
While most expect the SJ to be overturned, the question that more people are asking is whether there will be a perjury charge. Whatever happens, the world knows that TW did lie under oath, therefore, what other fibs or embellished tales have there been? The Court of Appeal needs to uphold the law and instill faith in the public, and show that the law is impartial and just. This is a case of justice being seen to be done, and if they fail, then faith in the system will have been lost.
Meanwhile, BP strikes back at the BBC over the documentary, ‘The Princes and the Press’, which appeared to be nothing more than a vanity project made up of random clips and snippets of interviews from other journalists. I honestly think the BBC have lost the plot – the chairman said he has been ‘assured’ that BP had a right of reply, while BP says otherwise. Having watched the first episode, there was nothing new that no one didn’t know already, but what was noticeable was the biased reporting and innuendos relayed by a sleazy looking journalist called Amol Rajan. William and Kate were ignored for the most part, and the focus was on Harry and TW.
As a result, BP. KP, and CH issued a statement expressing their disappointment in the BBC, and are considering submitting a complaint and boycotting the BBC. That seems a bit extreme, but perhaps behind the scenes there have been failed negotiations that has resulted in the above actions?
One of the contributors, Amanda Platell has told the world that she thought she had been conned by Rajan, as they used quotes to reinforce the narrative they wished to puruse – mainly that the RF lies, and that Harry and TW were victims of the press. No one believes it, and the documentary isn’t going to help the duo in their attempt to convince the world of their perceived victimisation.
The trailers for the next episode indicate that it will focus on Harry and TW, but I doubt anyone will be interested in Rajan’s opinions on this if this will be a cross between the Tom Bradby interview and the OW whinge fest. I wonder how the other journalists will fare, because Platell asked Rajan what other quotes from her he would be using, and he declined to answer, stating it was still being edited?
Clearly, Rajan is trying to make a name for himself, and is being hailed as the next Bashir (!). The public feedback on Rajan and the show is poor, and in an attempt to ridicule and mock the monarchy, it has made the people anti-BBC and who wish to support the monarchy instead. With the media and the public openly criticizing the BBC, one wonders what planet they are on if they haven’t taken any notice of the mass disapproval?

The problem remains that the BBC don’t seem to have a clue about what the public want or expect, and the Royal Family and their aides assume that the public will support them whatever the do or say. The People are no longer peasants who are uneducated, and who were once upon a time content to support the RF because they trusted them. Today, the members of the RF need to earn that trust, and from that stems loyalty and respect. Given their recent actions, or lack of, trust, respect and loyalty from the People has been lost. The Men in Grey will have to work hard to repair the damage that they have allowed to fester under their watch. Meanwhile, the People expect the Court of Appeal to enact justice, and if they fail, well, there is the Supreme Court…
